Finding the Courage to Be Yourself

Becoming Who You Really Are

We’re taught early on how to fit in. Be good. Be smart. Be agreeable. Be useful.

And little by little, we start forgetting how to simply be ourselves.

The world doesn’t always reward authenticity. It rewards achievement. Compliance. Perfection.

But if you’ve ever hit a point in your life where the old ways no longer work—where the mask starts to feel too tight—you’ll understand why being yourself might actually be the greatest accomplishment of all.

That’s the message at the heart of Fi Love’s story—a woman who, quite literally, changed her name to reflect the transformation she’d worked so hard for.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Once known as Fiona Fear, Fi built a career in helping others—trained in hypnotherapy, coaching, and energy work. People often joked about her surname, assuming it was intentional. But for Fi, that name carried a deeper meaning. It reflected much of her life’s emotional terrain: fear of abandonment, fear of being alone, fear of not being enough.

And yet, she reached a point where living in fear was no longer an option.

The Boldness of Becoming Yourself

On 7 July 2024, after more than a decade of deep inner work, Fi legally changed her name—from Fear to Love.  “It felt like I was changing my frequency,” she said. “Anything that no longer aligned with love came up to be healed.”

It was a deeply symbolic act. And a brave one. She hesitated to share it publicly, worried people might judge or laugh. But when she finally did, the response was filled with kindness.

By stepping into the name Fi Love, she didn’t just reject fear—she embraced a new identity grounded in self-worth, forgiveness, and truth. It marked the culmination of a journey that began in 2012 with what she called a “cosmic wake-up call.” Since then, she’d left relationships, moved countries, and done the intense work of healing old wounds.

None of it was easy. But all of it was necessary.

Lessons from the Journey

So what can we take from Fi’s experience?

  1. The journey home begins with disruption.

Fi’s transformation didn’t come from comfort—it came from upheaval. From walking away from relationships. From leaving her life in Dubai. From sitting in the pain of being alone.

She didn’t plan these changes—but she responded to them with courage. As she says, “The only way I could truly heal my fear of being alone was to be alone.”

It’s a reminder that change often begins when everything falls apart. It’s in the disruption that we find direction.

  1. You are allowed to rewrite your story.

Too often we feel stuck in the identities we’ve inherited—our names, roles, labels. But Fi’s choice shows us that transformation can be as literal as it is emotional.

She rewrote her story in every sense. And with it, she reclaimed the power to define who she is—not based on fear, but on love.

Whether or not you change your name, you’re always allowed to rewrite your narrative. You are the author.

  1. Healing is a holistic practice.

Fi didn’t rely on one path to healing—she drew from everything she knew: energy work, EFT tapping, psychotherapy, coaching, yoga, meditation. She also turned to water, nature, numerology, and stillness.

True healing isn’t linear, and it’s rarely found in one “right way.” It’s a collection of practices, insights, and moments of grace. As Fi discovered, sometimes it’s a walk on the beach or a soak in the bath that becomes sacred.

  1. Authenticity takes courage—but it sets you free.

When Fi finally announced her new name, she was met not with judgment, but with love.

Sometimes the fear of being ourselves is worse than the reality. And the moment we stop apologising for who we are, we open ourselves to deeper connections—with others, and with ourselves.

Fi’s choice may seem bold to some, but it was simply her way of coming home to the truth.

What’s the Story You Need to Tell?

Fi’s journey reminds us how powerful it can be to reflect on our lives—not to dwell, but to reclaim. When you tell your story—honestly, bravely—you begin to see the patterns, the healing, and the growth.

That’s why we created Casabo Memoirs—to help people do just that.

Whether you want to write a book for your family, reflect on a major life change, or simply gather the memories that shaped you, turning your story into a keepsake is an act of love.

For yourself.  For the people you love.  For the person you’re still becoming.

Because when you take time to look back, you create space for moving forward.

Final Words from Fi

“Even the hard stuff is a gift. The relationship we have with ourselves is the most important one to nurture.”

Fi’s story isn’t over. In fact, she’s still living it—one moment, one choice, one act of love at a time.

But her journey from Fear to Love is already a powerful lesson for us all.
