A story about identity, ancestral healing, and choosing love over fear

⇒ Watch Fi tell her story in her own words
For most of her adult life, she was known as Fiona Fear – and yes, as a trained hypnotherapist, clients often asked, “Did you choose that name?” It was always a conversation starter, usually followed by a laugh.
But as Fi will tell you now, there’s a deep symbolism behind that name—and even more behind her decision to change it.
Fi Love – as she now calls herself – didn’t always live in alignment with love. Her journey has taken her through personal upheavals, emotional healing, and spiritual awakening. But perhaps the most symbolic milestone came on 7 July 2024, a date rich in numerological meaning.
After years of inner work and self-discovery, Fi legally changed her name from Fear to Love.
“It felt like I was changing my frequency,” she says. “Anything that no longer aligned with love came up to be healed.”
Changing her name wasn’t just a practical decision—it was emotional, spiritual, and yes, a little terrifying. “I worried people would laugh or judge me,” she admits. “Even I laughed at myself! It felt bold, maybe even ridiculous at first—but deep down, I knew it was right.”
She delayed announcing it publicly until November, when she shared her story on Facebook. The response? Nothing but kindness and support.
Fi’s name change represents the core of her transformation—from someone who once lived in fear of abandonment, judgment, and not being “enough,” to someone who now chooses self-love, forgiveness, and authenticity. The decision came after a decade-long journey that began with a “cosmic wake-up call” in 2012.
That moment set her on a path of intense inner work: healing past wounds, recognising patterns of co-dependency, and learning to be truly okay with being on her own. “I had always sought validation outside myself—through relationships, achievements, even being the best in class at school,” she says. “But none of that was sustainable.”
After separating from her husband in 2013 and later another partner in 2023, she finally faced the fear she had avoided most: being alone. It wasn’t easy. “There were days I just wanted a hug,” she says. “But I knew I had to go within—to really sit with myself and do the healing work.”
One of the most difficult shifts came with a physical move—leaving Dubai, which had been her home for years. “I didn’t want to move back to the UK,” she says. “It felt like a loss. I grieved it. But now, I see it was such a gift. It gave me space to reset, to heal, and to reconnect with who I really am.” That unexpected upheaval, like so much of her journey, became part of the transformation she hadn’t planned—but desperately needed.
She used everything she’d trained in—psychotherapy, coaching, energy work, EFT tapping—and also worked with other healers to help unravel long-held patterns. Meditation, nature, yoga, and the power of water were constant companions. “Sometimes I’d just sit by the beach with my shoes off or soak in a bubble bath. Water transforms me,” she says.
Her love of numerology added another layer of insight. “Everything has a vibration,” she explains. “And numbers carry their own frequencies.” Her original surname, Burns, carried the vibration of 1 – about leadership and strength. The name Love vibrates as a 9 – symbolising completion and a deeper kind of wisdom. Even 2025, both globally and personally for her, is a “9 year”—a time of endings to make space for new beginnings.
Fi’s story reminds us that growth often comes from the most uncomfortable places. “The only way I could truly heal my fear of being alone was to be alone,” she says. “But I found treasure in the train wreck. I’ve gone from living in fear to embodying love—even if it’s still a work in progress.”
She draws inspiration from the Michael Jackson song Man in the Mirror: “If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make that change.”
For Fi, this is no longer just a lyric—it’s a life philosophy. “Everything is happening for me, not to me,” she says. “Even the hard stuff is a gift. The relationship we have with ourselves is the most important one to nurture.”
Her journey from Fear to Love may one day become the title of a book. But for now, it’s a story she lives every day—and shares in the hope it might help others move from fear to love in their own way, too.
