The Compass by Casabo

Discover your direction

Life doesn’t always follow the route we expected.

Sometimes we’re facing change. Sometimes we’re carrying more than we imagined. Sometimes we simply know that something needs to be different - but we’re not quite sure what comes next.

The Compass is a simple framework to help you pause, reconnect with what matters and find your own way forward.

You don’t need to have everything figured out.  You can begin exactly where you are.

"I set my destination.
I feel it, see it bright.
With baby steps I journey.
I trust my inner light."

Four simple steps - a framework you can keep using and coming back to whatever you're facing.  A way to move from where you are towards where you would like to be - one small step at a time.

The Compass isn’t about somebody else telling you what you should do.  It’s about helping you hear yourself more clearly, recognise what matters to you and trust your own capacity to find your way.

Compass Circles

"This work is priceless. I couldn’t give them enough money for the difference this has made in my life."

A space to be.  A way to navigate.

Sometimes we need more than a tool.

We need space to stop. To say how things really are. To be listened to without immediately being advised or fixed. To hear other people and realise we’re not the only ones finding life difficult, uncertain or complicated.

Compass Circles are small facilitated groups where people can pause, talk honestly, listen to others and explore what might help them move forward.

The Compass provides a simple framework for reflection, but the Circle isn't primarily a course or a place where someone tells you what to do.

You can share - or simply listen.  You might come away with a new perspective, a clearer sense of what you need, one small next step or simply the relief of realising you are not alone.

Bring The Compass into communities

"This is like a support network with a lot of love. It’s quite exceptional."

Some of the people who may benefit most from spaces like these are already gathered within charities, community groups, schools, healthcare settings, carer organisations and other networks.

So rather than expecting everyone to find us, we increasingly want to go where people already are.

We work with organisations and communities to understand what their people need and explore whether Compass Circles could provide something useful.

That might begin with a small Circle facilitated by us.

Where the approach proves valuable, we can also help organisations develop people from within their own community who can learn to facilitate Compass Circles themselves.

Because our goal isn't for communities to remain dependent on us.

It's to help create more people who know how to listen, hold space and help others discover their own direction.

Learn to facilitate The Compass

"If you feel called to walk with people - not ahead or behind - this is for you."

Some people experience a Compass Circle and find themselves thinking: I’d like to be able to create this kind of space for other people.

Our Compass Facilitator Development is an experiential pathway for people who want to bring The Compass and Compass Circles into their own work, organisation or community.

It builds on facilitator pathways we have already delivered, combining personal experience, practical facilitator skills, practice and reflection.

The emphasis isn't simply on learning The Compass. It's on learning how to facilitate well - listening deeply, asking thoughtful questions, allowing silence, holding boundaries and resisting the very human urge to immediately advise, rescue or fix.

Live it. Learn it. Share it.

Prefer one-to-one?

"I left every session feeling clearer, calmer, and more confident about what to do next."

Sometimes a group isn't what you need.

Phil offers calm, practical one-to-one conversations that give you space to explore where you are, where you would like to be and what might help you move forward.

The Compass provides a simple framework for those conversations, but there is plenty of room to go deeper - exploring what's getting in the way, listening to the different parts of you that may be pulling in different directions, and finding a way forward that feels right for you.

There's no pressure and no fixing. Just space to think, talk honestly and find your own direction.

I just want to explore

About us

"Kimberley and Phil create an environment where growth feels natural and empowering."

We're Kimberley and Phil.

The Compass grew out of the way we've learned to navigate our own lives - setting intentions, imagining what might be possible, taking small steps and learning to trust the journey even when we couldn't see the whole route.

Casabo is also the name of our home in Portugal - itself the fulfilment of a long-held dream - and stands for Come Again Soon And Bring Others.  That feels rather fitting for what we hope to create through our work too.

At the heart of it is a simple belief:

We don't tell people what to do or where to go.

We help create the conditions in which they can discover their own direction.
